The next BioShock game is under development in the new 2K studio
A new studio from 2K Games, Cloud Chamber, is working on the next game in the BioShock franchise, the publisher announced today.
Cloud Chamber has two offices: one in the San Francisco Bay Area of 2K in Novato, California, and another in Montreal, Quebec, with Kelley Gilmore at the head of the studio. The team has started working on the next BioShock game, but it’s still “a few years away”.
“We’ve created Cloud Chamber to create yet-to-be-discovered worlds – and their stories inside them – that push the boundaries of what’s possible in the video game medium,” Gilmore said in a press release. “Our team believes in the beauty and strength of diversity, both in the composition of the studio and the way it thinks. We are an extremely experienced group of game makers, many of whom are responsible for the development, evolution and long-term reputation of BioShock.
BioShock alumni like Hoagy de la Plante, Scott Sinclair and Johnathan Pelling are on board at Cloud Chamber, Gilmore told IGN. Co-founder of Irrational Games, Kevin Levine, who led the development of BioShock, is “not affiliated with Cloud Chamber nor with the development of the game,” she added.
BioShock Infinite was the last game released in the franchise. In 2018, Kotaku reported that some 2K developers had started working on an unannounced BioShock game.
