The population in Saudi Arabia fell by 2.6% due to the exit of foreigners during the pandemic

The total population of Saudi Arabia decreased by 2.6% in mid-2021 to 34.1 million people, compared to about 35 million in mid-2020.

Today, Wednesday, the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia said the main factor driving the total population decline is the decrease in the number of non-Saudis by 8.6 percent, with many non-Saudis leaving the country during the Corona pandemic.

The authority added that the Saudi population increased by 1.2% in mid-2021, on an annual basis.

Males made up 56.8% of the total population, equal to 19.4 million individuals, while females made up 43.2% of the total population, equal to 14.7 million females.

The authority explained that the population decline in Saudi Arabia in mid-2021 occurred after the number of the population in Saudi Arabia increased from 34.2 million in 2019 to 35 million in 2020.

He pointed out that natural reproduction, which is the number of births minus the number of deaths, has been good for Saudis and non-Saudis, therefore the decrease in the total population has mainly affected the decrease in the number of non-Saudi males residing in the Kingdom of 10. , 6% in mid-2021 on an annual basis, due to the increase in the number of males who left the kingdom during the Corona pandemic.

The Saudi population made up 63.6% of the total population, while non-Saudis made up 36.4%.
