The release of Mohamed Al-Faki Suleiman, former member of the Sovereign Council in Sudan

Today, Wednesday, Mohamed Al-Faki Suleiman, a former member of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, was released.

Suleiman was arrested in February on corruption charges following the October coup.

And last February, Sudanese authorities arrested former Sovereign Council member Muhammad al-Faki Suleiman, as well as a member of the Brotherhood Dismantling Committee, Wajdi Saleh, and former cabinet minister Khaled Omar Yousef, as well as the Secretary – The General of the Committee for the Removal of Empowerment, Tayeb Othman, in the same month.

Al-Faki, Saleh and Youssef were all part of a civilian-military power-sharing agreement reached in the country following the overthrow of President Omar al-Bashir in April 2019.

They were also members of the Removal of Empowerment and Anti-Corruption Committee which works to dismantle Bashir’s political and financial network.

However, on 25 October the army dissolved this former Sovereignty Council, after imposing a number of exceptional measures at the time, as did the government.

At that time, he conducted an arrest campaign that also involved the three men, who were arrested for about a month before being released. in followed, following the signing of an agreement between the army chief, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and the former prime minister, Abdullah Hamdok, last November.
