The Russian Olympic Committee team rose to second place in the overall standings after the eighth day of the “Tokyo 2020” Paralympic Games currently in course in Japan.
During today’s competitions, Russian athletes have won 15 medals (7 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes).
Russia climbed to second place in the overall standings with 89 medals (32 golds, 20 silvers, 37 bronzes).
China is in first place with 147 medals (68 golds, 43 silvers, 36 bronzes), while Great Britain has slipped to third place with 86 medals (30 golds, 24 silvers, 32 bronzes).
The Summer Paralympics will be held in Tokyo from August 24 to September 5 and the Russian Paralympic team participates in this tournament under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee, due to the sanctions of the World Anti-Doping Agency, and a piece of the compositions of the famous Russian musician Pyotr Tchaikovsky are played during the coronation of Russian athletes instead of the Russian national anthem.
