An informed source in the Russian military-industrial complex said that before the end of this year, the Navy will receive two new nuclear submarines.

According to the source, “In the third quarter of December next year, the Russian Navy may receive a nuclear submarine of the General Suvorov type of the Borei-A type, which is being developed as part of the state project 955A, and a nuclear submarine of the Krasnoyarsk type of the Yasen-A type. . M, developed at the Sevmash plant as part of the Russian state project 885M.

The source clarified: “It is assumed that the two aforementioned submarines will be transferred to the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Army next summer after passing the test complex.”

The submarine “General Suvorov” belongs to the class of submarines “Borey-A”, developed by Russia under the project 955A. Each submarine of this type can carry 16 Bulava intercontinental solid-propellant missiles, in addition to being equipped with systems for launching 533-mm torpedoes.

As for the Krasnoyarsk submarine, Russia began its development in 2014 as part of the 885M state project, and launched it for the first time in July last year. This submarine belongs to the Yasen-M class of submarines, each of which has a displacement 13,800 tons and the ability to dive to a depth of 600 m, and a speed of up to 30 knots, in addition, its hulls received special designs and materials, thanks to which it emits the least amount of noise when moving, which helps it hide from enemy ships and submarines. boats.
