Today, Saturday, the Saudi Football Association announced the launch of the first edition of the Saudi Women’s Football League, in a step that falls within the time frame established by the Federation as part of the women’s football support program since 2017.

The championship, which will take the via on November 22, it will take place in two stages through the Regional League in its first stage, with the participation of 16 teams, and its matches will take place in 3 cities (Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam) with the presence of 6 teams for each region (except Dammam, four teams) who will play in the league system From two rounds, the top three places of Riyadh and Jeddah and the first and second place of Dammam will qualify for the United The final championship will be held early next year in Jeddah at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, which will be held with a knockout system.

For his part, His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Federation, Yasser bin Hassan Al-Mishal, indicated that this announcement is an important moment in the march of the Federation, recalling that the launch of the first official league in the Kingdom was one of the Federation’s objectives when it inaugurated a special department for women’s football.

Al-Mishal added: “Today we live in this moment, which was reached by the grace of God and therefore the unlimited support of our wise leadership for all sectors, in particularly in the football sector “.

Al-Mishal explained that all the rules and regulations for the championship have been completed, underlining the federation’s intention to implement and respect them given the importance of this edition in the path of Saudi women’s football, wishing success to all participating teams in the tournament.

Additionally, a Saudi Federation Board Member and Director of Women’s Football Department, Lamia bin Bahian, extended her thanks and gratitude to the wise leadership for the unlimited support and attention enjoyed by women’s football.

Bin Bahyan said: “The moment we are living today cannot be described by transforming the dream of the Saudi Women’s League. in reality. Women’s football and reaching the highest levels.

He added: “We have been working from day one in the women’s football department, which started under the supervision of Ms. Adwaa Al-Arifi, who made a great and influential effort to complete the training phase of the women’s first league. in particular, and support women’s football in general”.

It is worth noting that the sixteen club participants from the three regions are: Al-Tahadi, Sama, Al-Himma, Al-Sham Al-Zarqa and Al-Yamamah (Al-Wusta) – Al-Asafah, Nisour Jeddah, Union Al -Quwwa, Flaming Ball and Al-Leith Al-Abyad (western) – Shala Al-Sharqiah, Al-Mamlaka Al-Nisa ‘, Al-Waha and Al-Nisour Union (eastern).
