The Secretary General of the Arab League underlines the importance of reaching a solution to the Palestinian question

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reiterated the importance of reaching a definitive solution to the Palestinian question and the Arab-Israeli conflict, leading to the end of the occupation and the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4 border. 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

During today’s meeting with Canada’s Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs Robert Oliphant, currently in visit to Cairo, Aboul Gheit stressed the need for the Canadian side to move positively towards the implementation of this goal and not be satisfied with the declared position in support of the two-state solution.

An Arab League statement said the meeting looked at all developments in regional and international arenas, in particularly the developments of the Palestinian cause, the Ethiopian Renaissance dam dossier, the bilateral relations between the League and Canada and the ways to improve them in various sectors, as well as the developments of the crisis in Ukraine and its impact on world food security.
