The Suez Canal expects revenues of $ 7 billion in 2022

The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, expected the channel to reach $ 7 billion in revenue in 2022. The channel aims to acquire 15% of the global energy trade by 2040, up from 8% in 2019.

The authority has announced that the increase will take place by adopting flexible marketing policies.

The authority revealed that the channel’s navigation statistics during the Gregorian year 2021 recorded record new and unprecedented in its history, achieving the highest annual revenue in the channel’s history of $ 6.3 billion and the largest annual net tonnage of 1.27 billion tonnes, surpassing all recorded numbers in precedence.

The head of the authority said in a previous declaration that the navigation movement in the channel during 2021 saw the transit of 20,694 ships from both directions, compared to the transit of 18,830 ships in the year 2020, with a difference of 1864 ships, an increase in the 10%.

He added that total net tons amounted to 1.27 billion tons, up from 1.17 billion tons in 2020, a difference of 100 million tons, an increase of 8.5%.
