The surgeon revealed signs of liver cancer

Russian surgeon Dmitry Zinatolin, an oncologist, said weakness, loss of appetite and back pain could be signs of liver cancer.

The specialist indicates that the disease in the early stages is usually asymptomatic, or symptoms appear that indicate another disease, such as weakness, fatigue and heaviness in the epigastric region and right hypochondrium.

He says: “With the development of the disease, the clinical picture of the symptoms of the disease manifests itself in the form of general weakness, fatigue, decreased performance, weight loss, anemia, decreased appetite, distortion or loss of taste and nausea. As well as a feeling of pain in the right hypochondrium and epigastrium, and over time, the pain passes to the back and shoulder blade. Right hand”.

The main risk factors for liver cancer are viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, mycotoxins, and autoimmune hepatitis.

He says: “The cells of a normally functioning liver are long-lived. But against the background of chronic liver diseases, liver cells are damaged with increased regeneration and fibrosis of the liver parenchyma (its visceral tissue). Against this background, a high level of cell turnover occurs, which is accompanied by an increased risk of genetic disorders, including mutations, rearrangements, deletions, aneuploidies, gene amplifications, and cirrhosis is an intermediate stage in most cases of liver cancer.

According to him, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography (CT) are used in the diagnosis of liver cancer at an early stage.

He says: “The way to treat liver cancer is determined by the stage of the disease, the functional state of the liver and concomitant diseases. Treatment of primary liver cancer with chemotherapy and radiotherapy has not been successful. As for traditional surgery, it involves removing the affected liver and transplanting another one.”
