The UN Secretary-General: take an important step for the export of Ukrainian grain

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced that an “important and fundamental step” has been taken towards a global agreement to resume Ukrainian grain exports from the Black Sea following talks between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and UN officials on Wednesday. .

He also added that despite Ukraine and Russia getting closer, “we still have a long way to go pace”.

“We hope that next week we can reach a final agreement,” Guterres told reporters in New York. “But as I said we still need a lot of goodwill and commitment from all sides.”

For his part, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar confirmed that an agreement on Ukrainian grain exports will be signed next week.

He added in the statements that it was agreed to ensure the safety of grain shipping routes and the safety of their roads.
