The UN Security Council welcomes the extension of the armistice in Yemen

Members of the United Nations Security Council welcomed the extension of the truce to two months in Yemen.

In a press release today, Council members expressed their appreciation for the measures taken by the parties to maintain the truce, which have resulted in real and tangible benefits for the Yemeni people, including a significant reduction in civilian casualties.

They expressed their aspirations and the hope that the truce could be translated in a permanent ceasefire e in a comprehensive and inclusive political solution under the auspices of the United Nations.

Security Council members encouraged the Yemeni parties to continue their engagement with the UN Special Envoy, negotiate and communicate with each other in the spirit of mutual respect and reconciliation.
