The United Nations welcomes the Saudi initiative to resolve the crisis in Yemen

United Nations spokesman Farhan Haq said today, Monday that the international organization welcomes the Saudi peace initiative to end the Yemen war, which is in line with the efforts of the United Nations.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said earlier today that the kingdom has proposed an initiative for a solution in Yemen, including a nationwide ceasefire under the supervision of the United Nations and the reopening of air and sea lines.

The Arab reactions continue to welcome the initiative Saudi Arabia launched today, Monday, to resolve the crisis in Yemen.

On Monday evening, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry welcomed the initiative by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen, opening Sana’a airport to a range of destinations, completing the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement and allowing ships of all kinds to enter while they are adhere to the Security Council resolution.

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry affirmed in a statement that this is “the same position that the government has expressed with all demands for peace and at all negotiating stations in its desire to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people”.

She added: “We remember that the Houthi militia has adamantly and postponed all previous initiatives and has worked to prolong and deepen the humanitarian crisis by promoting our initiative to open Sanaa Airport, to loot relief supplies and refused to steal port revenue in Hudaydah to pay the salaries of employees in exchange for misleading the international community by creating crises at the expense of the suffering of Yemenis. “

The statement indicated that this initiative was in response to international efforts to end war and human suffering. It is a real test of the extent of the Iranian-backed militias’ desire for peace and a test of the effectiveness of the international militia community in calling for an end to the war and the resumption of political pathways.

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that in all efforts for peace in a way that guarantees the end of the coup, the restoration of the state and the rejection of the destructive Iranian project in Yemen it will be Security Council Resolution No. 2216.

She also renewed her “thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership for everything they have presented to Yemen politically, economically and militarily, and with which we will enter the region before the destructive and expanding Iranian project.”
