The Vietnamese president resigns

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc announced today his resignation from his post. The Central Committee of the ruling party said in a statement reported by the Vietnam News Agency that President Phuc (68) tendered his resignation after the ruling Communist Party held him accountable for the violations and mistakes of many officials who were under his leadership and aware of his responsibilities, he filed a request to resign from office before the party and the people.

He said, “In view of the party’s regulations and Fuk’s personal request to step down, the party’s Central Committee approved the request to step down as head of state and chairmanship of the National Defense and Security Council.”
