The Winter Wonderland Event in Overwatch 2 is now live, With New Skins and Old Game Modes

Winter Wonderland, Blizzard Entertainment’s annual holiday event for Overwatch 2, is now live. It brings back three winter-themed arcade modes and adds a new set of themed cosmetics. At least one of them, Brigitte’s Ice Queen skin, can be earned free by completing challenges in the Winter Wonderland game modes.

  • Warmhearted – Thaw 15 allies in Freeze-thaw Elimination
  • Caught A Cold – Catch 6 snowballs in Snowball Deathmatch
  • Abominable – Win a game in Yeti Hunter as a Yeti
  • Block of Ice – Block a snowball with Mei’s ice wall
  • Unthawed – Win a game in Freeze-thaw Elimination
  • Snowstorm – Win a game in Snowball Deathmatch
  • Monster Hunter – Win a game in Yeti Hunter as Mei
  • Time for Cocoa – Win a game in Mei’s Snowball Offensive

Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland 2022 runs from December 13 to January 4, 2023, and brings back four game modes: Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch, Yeti Hunter, and Freeze-thaw Elimination. Veteran Overwatch players will be very familiar with these game modes. Still, new players will find two Mei-themed 6v6 Elimination and 8-player FFA Deathmatch game modes with snowballs, a 5v1 mode where five Meis take on one meat-snatching Winston, and a 4v4 freeze tag mode where players try to kill their opponents by freezing them and keep their teammates alive by thawing them.

If you play these arcade modes, you can get a set of sprays that look like Christmas tree ornaments and the Ice Queen skin for Brigitte, which is Epic-tier. To get Brigitte’s new skin, you must complete six other challenges from the Winter Wonderland event.

The update on Tuesday adds a bunch of new skins that can’t be bought yet but can be seen in-game. Many of them were shown off in the Overwatch 2 season 2 trailer at the end of November. They include Medusa Widowmaker, Cyclops Roadhog, Minotaur Reinhardt, and Crustacean Wrecking Ball, who also gets a crab-walking “Scurrying” emote.

Overwatch 2 is now available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
