The wonderful Arsenal beats Tottenham and consolidates the leadership in the English Premier League

LONDON: Arsenal produced a brilliant performance as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the London derby to extend their lead in Premier League by eight points today, Sunday. Arsenal pressed in attacking manner from the start and advanced with two goals in the first half, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris mistakenly into his own net, after an attempt by Bukayo Saka, and a wonderful shot by Martin Odegaard. And Tottenham have appeared much less than Arsenal, which is in a state of brilliance under manager Mikel Arteta, and managed to make up for his loss in hosting Tottenham at the same stadium, in a result that cost him to finish the season in the golden square. Arsenal dominated the first half and successfully resisted some attempts by Tottenham in the second half to reach three points. There were a few chances for forward Harry Kane, who needed a goal to equal Tottenham’s longtime goalscorer Jimmy Greaves, but goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale starred and prevented him from scoring. Arsenal now have 47 points in 18 games, eight points ahead of the champions in charge of Manchester City, while Newcastle United, who played another game, and Manchester United are one point in more behind. Tottenham finish fifth with 33 points in 19 matches. (Reuters)
