The Meta Quest 3 is the newest virtual reality headset that Meta has unveiled. Mark Zuckerberg introduced the Meta Quest 3 in an Instagram post, and it will be available for purchase this fall at a price of $499.99.
In the follow-up statement regarding the headset, Meta referred to the newly released headset as the “most powerful headset yet.”
As a result of the combination of our highest-resolution display and pancake optics, the content on the Quest 3 looks better than it ever has before. This will be the first headset to include a next-generation Snapdragon chipset created in conjunction with Qualcomm Technologies, and it will be able to power those additional pixels.
According to the release, the new chipset included in the headset will provide a graphical performance that is more than twice as powerful as that of the Quest 2.
According to Meta, in addition to performance, Quest 3 was designed to be comfortable and allow for extended periods of gameplay.
“With a 40% slimmer optic profile compared to Quest 2, Quest 3 is a sleeker, more comfortable headset,” adds Meta. “It also features an improved audio experience.”
“We also gave the Touch Plus controllers that come with Quest 3 a thorough overhaul, giving them a form factor that is both more streamlined and ergonomic. Because of our advancements in tracking technology, the outer tracking rings have been removed from the controllers, allowing them to feel more like a natural extension of your hands while also taking up less space.
If you don’t want to hold out for the Quest 3, Meta is bringing the price of the Quest 2 down to $299.99 for the 128GB version so that customers can purchase it now. The price for the 256GB model will be $349.99.
Are you planning to purchase Meta Quest 3 when it is released later this year? Your thoughts on the price tag of $499.99 would be appreciated.
