Three videos for Thanksgiving lessons
Thanksgiving is only a few days away. If you find yourself looking for a fast video lesson with Thanksgiving theme to use this week, check out the following three options.
Thanksgiving chemistry
The Thanksgiving Turkey compilation of the YouTube channel Comments explains two concepts related to the traditional Thanksgiving turkey. First it is explained how the frying process works and how it makes a turkey tastier. Second, the video explains why Turkey is not the main culprit to make you sleepy after devouring your Thanksgiving meal.

The Origins of Thanksgiving Foods
The Surprising Origins of Thanksgiving Foods is an educational video from It’s Okay to Be Smart. Through the video, students can learn how the most common, traditional Thanksgiving food originated and evolved into what they are today. This lesson explains how archaeologists and scientists have determined that turkeys were one of the first animals to be domesticated in North America. We also learn why the turkeys that we find in the supermarket today are so much larger than those of a few generations ago.

Canadian vs. American Thanksgiving
I have shared this several times over the years. The following nice video explaining the differences between Thanksgiving in Canada and Thanksgiving in the United States.

As a reminder, you should always preview videos before showing them in your class. I know many high school teachers who have no problem sharing this video, but teachers from younger students may want to be careful.
