thyssenkrupp in Arab: We are working with Egypt to build a green hydrogen plant
Andreas Beckers, CEO of the German company thyssenkrupp, said that the company is working on a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity to build a green hydrogen plant. The company is also creating a program to give young people from different universities an entrepreneurial spirit.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya, he also said that the company has more than 200 engineers working in Egypt and is building many fertilizer plants in the caustic and chlorine industries. The company already has other factories in Egypt.
He went on to say, “Today we are also very happy of the entrepreneurship training program that will help more young people from different universities in Egypt become entrepreneurs and help the country grow.”
The company offered to build a factory that would make green hydrogen and green ammonia and export them. On this topic, Beckers said that his company is currently working on an MOU with the Ministry of Electricity and is looking forward to finalizing the deal soon.
He went on to say, “We are in close touch with a number of partners who want to see the growth of green technologies in Egypt. These include green hydrogen, green ammonia, green methanol, and all forms of fertilizer.” I believe that our technologies have made a great contribution to the country in the past and continue to do so today. These technologies are needed to stop climate change, and the COP 27 event that will be held in Sharm El Sheikh next year is a big deal for Egypt and the whole world.
He talked about how the company is interested in the fertilizer business in Egypt and wants to keep growing in that area. He also mentioned that green technologies have come a long way in protecting the earth.
He also said, “I think we will keep going in this direction in the future. We also have other projects going on, like the one on the petrochemical sites in El Alamein.” So, I think we have a wide range of projects that are perfect for this area’s business, and we look forward to more progress in the future.
He said that the company’s entrepreneurship program in Egypt is a great example of how private companies can help the growth of young people from different universities by giving them an entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on experience in a variety of fields. This can also help them find potential job opportunities within our company and in the market, which is possible.
He went on to say, “So we are looking forward to working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to keep this program going with the next group of 50 kids who will be chosen soon.”
