Time is running out: Transfer your saved photos from Apple ASAP!

Apple Shutting Down Free Photo-Saving Service My Photo Stream

What’s Happening?

Apple has announced that it will be shutting down the My Photo Stream service on July 26. However, users can still store their photos on the service until June 26.

What Will Happen to Stored Photos?

According to an official statement by Apple, all photos stored by My Photo Stream users will be synchronized with iCloud by June 26 and remain available for download for one month.

Alternative Photo Storage Option

Apple is urging users to switch to iCloud photo storage service, which will remain available as an alternative to My Photo Stream.

How to Download Photos?

The steps to follow to download photos from My Photo Stream are:

  • For iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices: Go to the Photos application, click on the Album option, select the My Photo Stream folder, choose the images to be downloaded, and hit Save Image.
  • For computer Mac: Open the Photos application, choose My Photo Stream, select all the images to be archived, and drag and drop them into the Library archive folder.

iCloud Photo Service Requirements

Apple recommends running iCloud Photo service on iPhones running iOS 8.3 or later, iPads running iPadOS 8.3 or later, and computer Mac with macOS X Yosemite or later.

Browsing Photos on iCloud

Users who turn on iCloud Photos can easily browse their photos on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and the iCloud website. Photos can also be synced on Windows computers through the iCloud service for Windows.
