To protect them “Instagram” places a condition on its teen users

Instagram has announced a new measure to protect teens. The new measure is that Instagram will ask users to share their birthday to protect young people from misusing the platform.

In the coming weeks, Instagram will begin asking users who haven’t previously shared a birthday to do so, giving them an expiration before accounts are suspended for not revealing their birthday.

Instagram will offer two alternatives to users asking for their birthdays: in first, the app will display a notification “a few times” and, in second, a separate message if users attempt to view a post hidden behind a warning screen.

These warnings appear on “sensitive content” that may not violate the official Instagram rules.

Facebook, which owns Instagram, also says it will use artificial intelligence to detect when a user may have sent a fake birthday and that some users may be asked to “verify” their age.
