Trump makes a fuss after meeting with white supremacists

The White House condemned a meeting on Saturday that it convened in its home in Florida former President Donald Trump, white supremacist, and the rapper Kanye West, who has unleashed a wave of convictions with statements deemed anti-Semitic.

Trump confirmed on Friday that he had dinner with the rapper in his residence in Florida, emphasizing that questthe latter had brought friends, including Nick Fuentes, known for his racist and anti-Semitic views. “I didn’t know Nick Fuentes,” he said in a comment he posted to his “Truth Social” account on Friday night.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates condemned the meeting between Trump and Fuentes. “Fanaticism, hatred and anti-Semitism have no place in America, including Mar-a-Lago,” Bates told CNN. “Holocaust denial is abhorrent and dangerous and must be strongly condemned.”

Commenting on a question about Trump’s dinner, US President Joe Biden, who is spending the weekend in Nantucket, said simply, “You don’t want to hear my opinion.”

Trump ‘I don’t know him’

Fuentes is a Holocaust denier and his YouTube channel was deleted in early 2020 for violating the platform’s no-hate speech policy.

In mid-November, Trump announced his intention to run in the 2024 presidential election, but hosting him as a white nationalist prompted complaints from some former administration officials.

Former US Ambassador in Israel’s David Friedman condemned the meeting. “Even a social visit from an anti-Semite like Kanye West, human scum like Nick Fuentes is unacceptable,” he said in one of his tweets. “Anti-Semites deserve no place among American leaders on the right or left,” she added.

“Trump seemed taken”

Axios quoted an informed source as saying that Trump “seemed fascinated” by Fuentes, even though he appeared to know nothing of his history.

As for West, he’s officially changed his name in “Yi”, several brands have terminated their collaboration with him, including the German “Adidas” for the production of sports equipment and the American “Gap” for prêt-à-porter, due to statements considered anti-Semitic and his association with extremists.

The rapper Kanye West had alluded to his intention to run in the 2024 US presidential election, confirming that he had offered former President Donald Trump to be his vice presidential candidate, and the singer posted via Twittered a series of video clips with the slogan “Si24”. West referred to a conversation he had with Trump, who announced his candidacy for the 2024 election, and Yi said, “I asked him to be the vice president,” noting that Trump “will scold him.”

For his part, Trump explained that there was a “political talk” between them, adding: “I told him he shouldn’t run for president, and that all his voters should vote for Trump.”
