Trump Returns: Facebook and YouTube Welcome Him Back

Former US President Donald Trump posted on Facebook and YouTube on Friday for the first time since his accounts were suspended two years ago.

“I’m back!” wrote the former Republican leader, who seeks to run for a second term in 2024, along with a 12-second video excerpt from his victory speech after the 2016 election. in to which he says, “Sorry to keep you waiting — complicated business,” according to AFP.

“No longer restricted”

This comes after YouTube announced last Friday that Trump was terminating its participation in the platform two years after it was banned in following the attack by his supporters on the Capitol.

The American giant said on Twitter: “From today, Donald Trump’s channel is no longer subject to restrictions”.

While he justified his decision to reactivate Trump’s channel, stating that he assessed the “risk of violence” taking into account the importance of voters listening to “the main candidates on an equal footing”.

It is reported that the 2024 presidential election candidate has been barred from the social network in January 2021 while he was in power, against the backdrop of his supporters attacking the seat of Congress in Washington.
