Earlier, we published a report on a shooting at the Cumberland Mall in Atlanta. Now, some updates to the incident have been provided.
According to WSBTV, police confirmed that there was a shooting inside the mall. A Cobb County spokesperson said the shooting took place after an argument inside the food court.
Authorities could not confirm the subject of the argument, but two people were involved. A person was killed and transported to hospital for treatment, his condition is unknown at the moment. Police say they are looking for a man who has left the scene, but the man’s description has yet to be released.
The police conducted a security scan inside the mall and do not believe the man is still inside the mall. Officer Sarah O’Hara said, “We are working hand in hand with the mall right now and our research teams have pulled out.”
Police presence is still significant at the mall, however, a Cobb police spokesperson said the mall may reopen today, but the food court will remain closed.
Shortly after the police arrived at the scene, they were able to determine that this was not an active shooter situation and that it was a single incident, as it involved two people .
We will continue to keep you posted on this story.
