Many local Atlanta buyers were terrified when their vacation shopping stopped following a shootout that broke out inside the Cumberland Mall food court. Now two suspects have been arrested and formally charged for their role in the incident.
Just a few days ago, an argument was said to have been so violent that it sparked fire at a popular mall in Atlanta. The incident occurred in the food court of the shopping center and left an unidentified 18-year-old man shot in the neck and shoulders. However, as reported by @WSBTV, two suspicious teenagers have now been formally arrested and charged with the shooting that allegedly started after the release of the latest Jordan sneakers.
The suspects in the shooting were identified as Zaire Dhanoolal, 18, and Joweer Ponce, 19, both residents of Marietta, Georgia. Police said they looked at a surveillance video showing one of the suspects pointing a gun at one of the two victims before shooting the other. Dhanoolal is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, while Ponce is charged with reckless driving and carrying a concealed weapon without a license.
When arrested, Dhanoolal and Ponce were both taken into police custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Despite the arrest and charge of the two suspects, residents say they are still actively investigating the shooting and are asking all Atlanta residents who may have information that could help contact them.
