Turkey.. Illegal excavations unearth ancient Roman cemetery

Illegal excavations have revealed an ancient Roman tomb in which scientists have found 27 skeletons.

The Daily Sabah reports that the tomb is dug into a rock in the province of Adiyaman. The tomb was discovered after local residents reported illegal excavations in the countryside of the Golbashy region.

And he adds that this is the first time that such a large number of skeletons have been found in a single tomb discovered in the area.

According to the initial estimates of experts, this cemetery belongs to the Roman era and is about 1600 years old.

Archaeologists also found in this tomb a vessel for collecting the tears of the mourners and three rings used to load a hand spindle.
