Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday that his country’s exports rose 12.9 percent to $254.2 billion last year, the highest level on record.
He has declared in a conference that exports to the European Union increased by 12% in 2022, adding that Turkey is working on the goal of becoming one of the top 10 exporters in the world.
Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mosh said his country’s exports rose 1.9 percent to $21.9 billion in November, while imports totaled $30.7 billion in the same month.
According to Reuters calculations based on data from the Commerce Ministry, Turkey’s trade deficit jumped 65% year-on-year in November to $8.8 billion as rising gold costs and energy imports continues to widen the deficit.
