Turkish authority: 4 tankers will cross the Istanbul Strait on Monday

The Turkish Maritime Authority announced today on Sunday that four tankers carrying about 475,000 tons of oil have presented the necessary letters of insurance in compliance with regulations and will pass through the Istanbul Strait on 12 December.

A Turkish measure entered in force from the beginning of this month has caused delays in the passage of tankers. The procedure requires tankers to provide proof that they have taken out insurance covering the period of their transit through the Bosphorus Strait or when calling at Turkish ports.

The authority said in a statement that he had removed five tankers from the country’s territorial waters through the Dardanelles Strait, as it was not in able to provide letters of confirmation of insurance.
