Although it may seem strange, reports claim that Ubisoft is already planning a Nexus sequel to its Assassin’s Creed VR project.
Ubisoft hasn’t provided many details on Assassin’s Creed Nexus in its official press releases (apart from its initial announcement). Nevertheless, we know that the game will only be available on Oculus (META). However, we recently realized that the arrangement had been canceled due to continuous budget cuts at Meta. It is acknowledged that Ubisoft is free to release the game on any VR platform it chooses. However, given that the arrangement was struck late in the game production cycle, it is unlikely it will.
What’s remarkable about the situation is that Ubisoft expects Nexus to perform incredibly well for a VR game, with internal negotiations for Nexus 2 already starting. Even though it’s very early, this suggests that Ubisoft intends to release the sequel on various VR headsets.
According to sources, Assassin’s Creed Nexus will be unveiled in June and out in September 2023, following Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
In Fiscal Year 24, Ubisoft will release 11 games, with Nexus being the only one in virtual reality. You can play as former game characters in Assassin’s Creed Nexus, including Ezio, Kassandra, Connor, and Haytham.
Who knows what Nexus 2 will include, but we can probably anticipate seeing more prior characters making their VR debut.
