Unbridled imagination or anticipation? Bezos sees space as a home for humanity and the Earth for the holidays!

According to billionaire Jeff Bezos, space will be the home of humanity in future as people visit Earth in vacation.

In the next few centuries, “people will be born in space and will live in giant floating cylinders that can hold up to one million people and recreate Earth’s gravity and environment, with rivers, forests and wildlife, “said space company founder Blue Origin, along with the e-commerce giant Amazon, Wednesday. It is the regular time of the Earth. “

Bezos made his prediction during a surprise appearance at a US space policy discussion that included NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and National Intelligence Director Avril Haines.

“For centuries, many people will be born in space and this will be their first home,” Bezos said. “They will be born in these colonies, they will live in they and then will visit the Earth in the way in where you visit, you know, Yellowstone National Park. “

The event was held at Washington Cathedral as part of the Ignatius Forum 2021 in DC, hosted by Adi Ignatius, chief editor of Harvard Business Review. Bezos previously talked about his idea of alien habitats, or life-supporting environments, called “O’Neill colonies”.

In a 2019 Blue Origin presentation, the second richest man in the world described the three-mile cylinders as containing “high-speed transportation” and “agricultural areas,” some designed for recreation, according to Business Insider at the time.

Some areas will be gravity zero to allow residents to fly in recreationally, and others could mimic major cities on Earth.

“It’s Maui on its best day, all year,” Bezos said of the colonies in 2019. “No rain, no earthquakes. People will want to live here.”

Speaking on Wednesday, Bezos said his company name, “Blue Origin,” is a reference to the idea that the Earth is humanity’s point of origin, not its ultimate destiny.

He also said his trip beyond Earth in July was a bigger turning point than he had imagined. “The scope of this experience was much greater than I expected,” he added to the audience.
