Meyer, a triple national champions coach, won two titles in Florida in 2006 and 2008 and a ring in the state of Ohio in 2014. He retired after the 2018 season for health reasons, the second retirement of his career due to the same circumstances. .

Meyer, a native Toledo native, has no previous NFL coaching experience and also headed programs in Utah and Bowling Green prior to his term in Florida.

Whoever gets the Browns job will have a strong core in place, featuring Baker Mayfield general Myles Garrett, wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. and running back Nick Chubb.
