Venezuelan Foreign Minister Carlos Faria said his country would welcome the expansion of the use of the Russian ruble in its resorts and hoped to restore the influx of tourists from Russia in the near future.
In a statement to RIA Novosti, Faria said on the sidelines of his participation in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly: “It is no secret that Russia seeks to expand the use of the ruble, and its use to other regions … As for Venezuela, this will benefit the development of our tourism, because, as we know, hundreds of Russian tourists are heading to Margarita Island.”
The head of Venezuelan diplomacy noted that the number of Russian tourists visiting Venezuelan resorts has already reached a thousand.
Faria also noted that “this operation has been suspended due to the sanctions imposed against Russia and Russia’s ban on using conventional routes to send aircraft to our continent. It will be resumed. This will greatly help the development of tourism in our country.” .”
