But it’s time to get back on track because a new “Vikings” series has been announced and will be available to watch on Netflix. The historical drama has a largely invented narrative that inserts real and legendary figures from Norse culture into actual historical events.

What is the Vikings: Valhalla Plot?
In the early eleventh century, tensions between Vikings and English rulers had reached blood-soaked. King Ethelred II (Bosco Hogan) of England swears to cleanse his country of Vikings and dispatches forces to massacre Viking families in Danelaw settlements. When King Canute of Denmark learns of the massacre, he promises to get vengeance. He raises an army in Scandinavia in preparation for an invasion, where Leif and his sister Freydis (Frida Gustavsson) arrive after a perilous journey from Greenland. After joining forces with Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), Leif joins the army of King Canute (Bradley Freegard) as the Viking wage war on England, planning a massive raid on its capital London. But the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs. What ensues is battle, turmoil, murders, and substantial power struggles.

Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett)

Leif Eriksson is most known for founding a Viking settlement in North America centuries before Christopher Columbus “discovered” the area. He’s a skillful sailor in Vikings: Valhalla, who fled Greenland in search of greatness and a way to escape the shadow of his brutal father, Erik the Red. Sam Corlett, an Australian actor, plays Caliban, the Prince of Hell, in the Netflix original Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson)

Freydis was the victim of a heinous murder, and her fight for justice leads her, Leif, and their close friends on a long and challenging trip from Greenland to Norway. Freydis discovers her destiny as a warrior to defend other worshippers of the old gods from opponents. Frida Gustavsson, a Swedish model, and actress portray Geralt of Rivia’s mother, Visenna, in Season 1 of Netflix’s The Witcher.

Canute’s ambition is to expand his kingdom across Northern Europe by forging new alliances, even if it means upsetting some of his old allies. Bradley Freegard, who is Welsh, co-starred in the British drama Keeping Faith with his real-life wife, Eve Myles.
Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson)

Olaf Haraldsson, Harald’s older half-brother, is the first to succeed as King of Norway. He is a Christian who believes that all pagans should convert to Christianity. He is looking for allies and resources to assist him in propagating his beliefs. Olaf was a close counselor to King Ethelred II. Olaf helped build England’s defense. In Netflix’s horror movie The Innocents, Iceland’s actor Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson plays the horrifying villain.
Jarl Haakon (Caroline Henderson)

Jarl Haakon, the ruler of the well-defended fictional port city of Kattegat, has provided a safe place for people to share their abilities. Ambitious Christian Vikings threaten her leadership because she is a pagan. She recognizes Freydis’ potential and assists her in determining her path. Caroline Henderson is a pop and jazz Singer. This is her first major television role in English.

Earl of Godwin (David Oakes)

Earl of Godwin, King Ethelred II’s clever senior advisor, will go to any limit to keep his position. Because of his father’s faults, he has a limited rank, but he takes advantage of it, gaining favor with the king for his willingness to speak the truth. David Oakes is an English actor who has starred in several historical dramas, including The Borgias, in which he plays a member of the infamous Italian crime family.
Will there be a Vikings: Valhalla Season 2?
The Valhalla narrative will unfold over a minimum of three seasons consisting of 24 individual chapters. We applaud that commitment in an age of “one-and-done” debut seasons. And not just Season 2 is coming, but Season 3 as well.
