Vinicius, star of Brazilian Real Madrid: there is still a long way to go to get the Ballon d’Or

BERLIN: The star Vinicius Junior said he still has a long way to go to compete for the Ballon d’Or, awarded by the French magazine “France Football”, while his French colleague Karim Benzema has been nominated for the prize of quest’year. Vinicius scored Real Madrid’s only goal against Liverpool, gifting his side the Champions League title for the 14th time in its history last May, and also played a major role in crowning the team with the title of Spanish league in the same season. The Brazilian player scored 22 goals and provided 16 assists in all tournaments during the 2022/2021 season, which represents the highest level of his team, and is surpassed only by Thomas Muller (22 assists), Kylian Mbappe (21) and Trent Alexander Arnold (18) among the stars of the big five. Former star Rivaldo, who won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil, had nominated Vinicius to compete for the title of best player in the world early next year, but the Real Madrid winger believes that star as Karim Benzema and Luka Modric confirm that he still has a long way to go. “The Golden Ball should come naturally,” Vinicius said in statements to the “Que Babino” channel on YouTube. He added: “Karim Benzema is 35 now and he will win it, and Luka Modric crowned him at the age of 33 in 2018”. “I have many years to compete, which is a long time if God wants me to win it one day,” he explained.
