Wall Street goes up in the open, buoyed by banking and energy stocks

The major Wall Street indices rose in opening on Monday, after falling sharply last week on fears of high inflation and the new Corona virus strain, Omicron.

Investors preferred to buy bank and energy stocks over technology stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average began the trading session in up 53.35 points, or 0.15%, to 3,463.33 points.

The Standard & Poor’s benchmark index rose 9.94 points, or 0.22%, to 4,548.37 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 32.16 points, or 0.21%, to 15,117. , 63 points.
