Wall Street indicators diverge after US inflation data

The Standard & Poor’s 500 and Dow Jones indexes opened in higher on Wall Street on Thursday as further signs of slowing US inflation boosted bets that the Federal Reserve will slow the pace of interest rate hikes in future.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 74.85 points, or 0.22%, on the open, to 34,047.86 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 7.96 points, or 0.20%, to 3,977.57 points, according to Reuters.

The Nasdaq Composite Index fell to 10,931.67 points.
