The US Central Command said on Thursday that an Iranian-made drone carried out an attack on the Pacific Zircon tanker in the Gulf of Oman on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

He added in a statement that a multilateral operation led by a British Royal Navy frigate has responded to the situation in the region.

The Israeli-run Eastern Pacific Shipping said the attack on the tanker Pacific Zircon caused minor damage to the tanker’s hull, causing no injuries or losses to its diesel cargo.

As she explained, sharing information with partners builds trust and strengthens relationships.

The statements by the Fifth Fleet spokesman came after the United States on Wednesday condemned the attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman the previous day, accusing Iran of carrying it out, in a statement released by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

“After reviewing the available information, we are confident that Iran likely carried out this attack using a drone, a deadly weapon that it has increasingly and through its proxies used in throughout the Middle East, and that it has been transferred in Russia to be used in Ukraine,” Sullivan said. .

The US national security adviser’s statements came after senior Israeli security officials accused Iran of an attack that targeted an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, with an explosive drone.

They considered this attack to be a strategic blunder on Tehran’s part and an attempt to provoke the West before World Cup matches in Qatar, according to the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz”.

They also added that the drone used to attack the tanker was the same type that Iran had previously sold to Russia.
