European Commission Energy Director Ditty Joel Jorgensen told The Washington Post that the European Union will face big challenges in the winter of 2023-2024.
She stated that this winter will be difficult, but the European Union will do its best to prepare.
“I think we will face a bigger challenge than the coming months in the winter of 2023-2024,” Jorgensen said.
Jorgensen pointed out that these expectations are based on the ongoing imbalance in global financial markets, including the gas market.
Jorgensen added that the EU expects difficulties in replenishing energy supplies in March and April 2023.
Earlier, the head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, stressed the need for Europe to be able to cope with the gas supply crisis thanks to large reserves, despite expectations of an energy crisis in the coming winter.
