According to reports, the Biden administration has threatened to impose a U.S. ban on TikTok unless its Chinese owners sell their part in the short-form video-sharing app.

Initially reported by The Wall Street Journal, the demand is claimed to have come from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. This multi-agency federal task group supervises the dangers to national security posed by international investments.

That is the most recent action in a campaign against the ByteDance-owned app, which has already been the subject of restrictions from the government.
