You see it for a moment, and then one, two, or even more emails seem to disappear. It takes much work to keep track of emails, especially since we all get many daily.

It can be even more annoying when things are automatically put together without your knowledge. You might not know that this is how most email services are set up.

Emails are automatically grouped when they have the same recipients, senders, or subjects as a previous email. It will put all the messages in this category on top of each other, with the oldest and the newest ones at the bottom.

If the subject changes or there are more than 100 emails in the chain, the conversation may split into a new chain.

This is usually how every email service works by default. You can still turn it off by going to Settings and doing the steps below.

How to turn off Gmail's conversations feature Go to your Gmail account and sign in. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner (gear icon)

Select See all settings Scroll down to Conversation View and select Conversation view off Then, at the bottom of the screen, click "Save changes." This last step is important to make sure your changes are saved.
