Week 17 Fantasy Rankings: Kicker

Has the phrase “Kickers win fantastic football championships” ever been spoken? If not, it probably could – the problem is that it’s harder to predict kickers on a weekly basis than any other fantasy football position. But for one last time, we will try to do so in Week 17 fantasy theft rankings, which clearly feature Zane Gonzalez, Matt Gay and Younghoe Koo higher than you would ever expect.

The biggest variable to be introduced in week 17 is weather. Most games are in hot landscapes or domes this week, but there are some concerns. Auckland takes the Broncos to Denver, which is normally a big kick for Daniel Carlson and Brandon McManus in the thin air – but we have to see if there is snow in the field that matters. The Giants host the Eagles, the Patriots host the Dolphins, the Bengals host the Browns and the Bills host the Jets. Fortunately for us, most kickers in these games are not even worth using in good weather imagination, so stick with names near the top of our rankings that shouldn’t have major weather issues.

It will be worth watching an injury in Week 17, and this is Greg Zuerlein’s quad. Kick it in week 16 and probably good, but there may be whispers all week and you wouldn’t want to be unprepared for a miss. Otherwise, however, the relative kickers remained largely healthy.

Let’s hope your fantastic matchup doesn’t go down to the kicker. But if he does, you’ll be able to tell your friends that a kicker has won you a fantasy championship.
