West Ham beat Dinamo Zagreb and a thrilling victory for Betis over Celtic

Zagreb: West Ham United have started their season in Europa League with a 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in Group H on Thursday, while Celtic wasted a two-goal lead by losing 4-3 to Real Betis in Group G. Red Star Belgrade, the former champions Europe defeated their Portuguese host, Braga, 2-1, and the Bulgarians Ludogorets returned with a 1-1 draw from Denmark’s Mittelland Stadium in Group F. Mikhail Antonio led in West Ham led in the 22nd minute and Declan Rice decided the English side win five minutes after the second half with a powerful shot that passed between the legs of goalkeeper Dominic Levakovic. In the other Group G match, Bayer Leverkusen overturned the delay by winning 2-1 over their Hungarian host Fransvaros. Ryan Mamay opened the scoring for the visiting team, but Leverkusen responded with goals from Ezequiel Palacios and Florian Frits. The Red Star advanced with Milan Rodic in the 75th minute, but Braga equalized in the next minute with Fenderson. Alexandre Katai decided the Red Star victory with a penalty five minutes from time. In group E, Galatasaray beat Lazio 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Thomas Strakosha, while Lokomotiv Moscow equalized in ten men 1-1 with Olympique Marseille. (Dpa)
