Biden’s visit in Egypt includes his one-week overseas tour, which will take him in Cambodia and Indonesia.
A White House official revealed Biden’s agenda to Al-Ain Al-Akhbar during his visit to the Climate Summit, where the US President will hold a bilateral meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and will communicate with Egyptian officials to discuss developments in Middle East and underline the US commitment to stability and diplomacy to end conflicts in the region and calm tensions.
The US official said the meeting of the presidents of the US and Egypt will include discussion of a number of issues, including the impact of the climate crisis on the region, the global impact of the Russian operation in Ukraine, the easing of regional tensions, security and economy partnership between the United States and Egypt and human rights.
President Biden will arrive at 3:20 pm Cairo time at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport to hold a bilateral meeting with President El-Sisi at 3:55 pm at the Tonino Lamborghini International Convention Center.
The US President will deliver his speech at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) at 5.15pm, leaving Sharm El Sheikh Airport at 6.15am for Cambodia.
The US administration official said that during Biden’s speech, there will be an opportunity to present Washington’s efforts to address the climate crisis. in at home and abroad and to show how the United States is mobilizing historical and unprecedented public and private funds to collaborate with countries in via development in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate impacts.
The official noted that President Biden will also talk about the need for the 196 parties to the Paris Agreement to maintain their efforts by accelerating ambitious work to reduce emissions, to keep the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.
He explained that last year President Biden set an ambitious goal of reducing emissions by at least 50% in 2030, which made the United States a leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, indicating that Washington is on the right track.
After Sharm el-Sheikh, the president of the United States will go in Cambodia November 12-13, to participate in the annual summit between the United States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and then attend the East Asia Summit on November 13, after he will travel to Bali, in Indonesia, to participate in the G20 summit.
