Cadillac to Unveil Electric Escalade SUV Called Escalade IQ
Introduction
Cadillac is set to unveil an electric version of the Escalade SUV, called the Escalade IQ this year.
The IQ Name
The IQ name was trademarked by General Motors last year and is expected to be produced in GM’s Factory Zero plant in Detroit.
What to Expect?
Cadillac says that the Escalade IQ will have the same level of craftsmanship, technology and performance as the original Escalade, which has dominated the luxury SUV market for the last 20 years.
Cadillac’s Top-Selling Model
The Escalade is Cadillac’s top-selling model in the United States, and the Escalade IQ is expected to continue this trend.
Cadillac’s Electric Vehicle Naming Pattern
The Escalade IQ follows Cadillac’s naming pattern for its electric vehicles, which all end with “-iq”. The Escalade IQ is preceded by the Lyriq midsize electric crossover, which is on sale now, and the Celestiq ultraluxury sedan, which will enter production later this year.
Cadillac’s Future Plans
Cadillac’s Vice President of Global Cadillac and GM’s incoming President of North America, Rory Harvey, has said that Cadillac will unveil three more EVs this year that should start production in 2024. Cadillac is also preparing for an all-electric lineup in North America by 2030.
