Tom Jones left BBC’s Naga Munchetty in fits of laughter as he shared a stark comment to television presenter Gethin Jones. The music icon was addressing Gethin’s joke he was his dad as they share the same surname.
Say hi to my dad for me.
Tom, 80, was appearing on BBC Breakfast to discuss his first album in over a decade, Surrounded By Time when he appeared to make a joke towards Gethin.
As Naga, 46, and co-anchor Charlie Stayt, 58, linked to Morning Live, Charlie told Gethin and Kym Marsh: “Here’s my note to you, Sir Tom Jones coming up.”
Gethin instantly responded: “Say hi to my dad for me.”
“Ah Gethin Jones, yes, of course,” Naga interjected before adding: “not sure Sir Tom Jones knows about that yet.”

Speaking just one day shy of the official charts positioning, Sir Tom was on track to achieve yet another number one record to add to his collection.
“I’m thrilled to bits but we’ve got to wait until Friday night, until we get the official position it’s going to be in.
“I don’t count my chickens until they’re hatched so until they say on late Friday night, there it is, you know.
“But, it’s getting so much attention and people are really loving it, that’s the main thing, whether it’s number one or number two.”
Tom went on to add: “Number one is always like, ‘Wow,’ especially now that I’m 80.
“I think I’d be the oldest one to have a number one album – if it happens.
“But I’m not counting my chickens yet.”
One track on his album, I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall, sees the singer vow to be with his late spouse for as long as he can while continuing to go on following her death.
The lyrics in particular are linked to what Linda had told her husband while he stayed with her in hospital for ten days.
Speaking on The One Show, he told hosts Alex Jones and Michael Ball: “Every song on there is telling a different part of my life.
“It’s like the first one I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall, like when my late wife Linda, God bless her, she had lung cancer and she was passing away.”
The Voice UK coach continued: “I was there in the hospital room with her for the last 10 days.”
He went on to add: “I said, ‘My God, Linda, I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself.
“I won’t be able to sing, I won’t be able to get the words out.’
“And she said, ‘You must, don’t fall with me. I’ve got to go but you don’t have to.
“’You’ve got to go and do what we planned to do,’ which was to move back to London.
“’But I’ve just run out of time but you’ve got to go out and do that now.’”
