When did dinosaurs become extinct?

Archaeological discoveries over time have proven how different types of dinosaurs once roamed the world, and fossil bones and teeth found by archaeologists have proved it.

Scientists are constantly looking for the cause and timing of the extinction of the dinosaurs, and fossil bones, teeth and footprints have shown that the Earth was home to dinosaurs for at least 230 million years.

Dinosaurs died out 66 million years ago and were not the only creatures to disappear from existence, as three-quarters of all creatures disappeared from the face of the earth, and the diversity of the remaining life forms was drastically reduced.

Some marine reptiles such as mosasaurs, ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and the flying reptiles known as pterosaurs have disappeared due to the massive destruction that hit the land.

But how did the dinosaurs die?

There are many theories about how the dinosaurs died. The sun has provided the most prominent hypotheses that science has come up with, including:

Alvarez Hypothesis: This hypothesis was named after father and son Luis and Walter Alvarez, who in 1980 theorized that a mountain-sized meteorite hit Earth and caused major climate change because it filled the air with gas, dust. and trash.

This is because many of the rocks containing dinosaur fossils also contain large amounts of the metallic iridium, which is rare in the Earth’s crust but often found in rocky meteorites, and their theory became more convincing when they discovered a huge crater on Earth. . coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, called the Chicxulub crater, 93 miles wide, coeval with the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Some claim that there was a massive lava flow on Earth, specifically the eruption of the Deccan Traps in ancient India, which caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, and it is believed that this lava eruption lasted a million years.

This theory is confirmed by the facts of the constant change in the temperature of the Earth.
