Why has China postponed the release of its economic data?

China announced the postponement of the release of growth data for the third quarter of questyear, along with another set of economic indicators expected for this week. The authorities did not provide justifications for the postponement.

For his part, the chief investment strategist of Kraneshares, Anthony Sassin, said today, Wednesday, in an interview with “Al Arabiya”, that China has not explained the reasons for the postponement of the growth numbers, but the numbers will be weak after a period of closures, and analysts know the trend of the Chinese economy.

He added that China could launch stimulus measures with Chinese economy numbers below target, especially in the real estate sector, which should increase the pace of its stimulus, explaining that there is no danger in the undisclosed numbers, but they will be al below the required level.

Anthony Sassin explained that the recent meeting of the ruling party in China has shown strong influence from the Chinese president as the country’s most powerful president for the past 30 years, and there are no surprises in his speech and continues in all its policies, including politics “zero Covid ”, which represents the main obstacle to growth.

At the Communist Party Congress earlier this week, the Chinese president reiterated his support for the private sector and for allowing financial markets to play an important role in supporting the economy.

An official from China’s State Economic Planning Commission said China’s economy showed a strong recovery in the third quarter, but still faces many challenges and difficulties.

A Reuters poll showed that the Chinese economy likely grew 3.4% in the July-September period from the previous year.
