With heavy weapons Clashes between the Taliban and Iranian border guards

Armed clashes broke out this Wednesday afternoon between Taliban militants and Iranian border guards in the Kanj district of Nimroz province in southern Afghanistan on the border with Iran.

Al-Arabiya.net got videos from residents of thearea of Kanj showing the use of light and heavy weapons by both sides in the clashes.

Additionally, local residents said the Taliban movement ordered residents of the area to leave their homes immediately as security and military reinforcements arrived at the Afghan-Iranian border.

The cause of the clashes

And Taliban-affiliated accounts on social media they published news of movement control on a series of military checkpoints belonging to Iranian border guards.

On the other hand, the Iranian agency Tasnim reported that the clashes occurred due to a “border misunderstanding” that occurred in thearea of Shagalak near the Afghan province of Nimroz.

Interestingly, the Taliban launched a massive military campaign against the positions of former government forces on multiple fronts in the country, after the United States announced on April 30 the process of withdrawing its forces, according to the president Joe Biden’s plan.

In recent months, the movement has managed to extend its control over all border crossings and on 15 August the movement’s militants entered the capital, Kabul, where they took control of the presidential palace.
