Wonder Woman’s 1984 trailer deploys Gal Gadot in Eagle Armor from the comics

Most superheroes are famous for changing their looks, and one of Wonder Woman’s iconic outfits is featured in the new Wonder Woman 1984 trailer.

Sure, the Amazons have changed clothes – from pants, skirts, pants, pants and backs – but we’re not talking about the usual star armor. Wonder Woman 1984 brings the armor of the golden eagle to the canvas:

The sharp-eyed fans of the Amazon speculated that the new gold armor featured on the first Wonder Woman 1984 poster could be the Eagle Armor, with no wings or helmet, but now we know it. The last footage in the trailer shows Diana in full outfit, which has wings seemingly easy to disassemble. Here’s a look with the wings attached:

Although she rarely wears Wonder Woman’s eagle armor, she appears in several DC comics that look almost the same as the movie’s version: glowing gold, large metal wings, and a raptor-headed helmet. For something so gaudy and impractical, the origin can be traced back to an artist known primarily for his photorealistic style: Alex Ross.

Ross designed the look for the miniseries Kingdom Come by Mark and Mark Waid, which is embedded in a potential future of the DC universe. The design was so eye-catching that of course it only had to go into the comics. While the look is meant for ceremonial or diplomatic purposes (to impress the shit of your enemies), it is by no means a pewter suit.

The wings are designed to withstand other Amazon warriors, and in situations where Wonder Woman does not have innate flight (which often wavers), the armor leaves her like a . well, you have the idea.
