Xbox Series X controller has a share button

The next-generation Microsoft console, the Xbox Series X, comes with a new controller that takes a page from Sony’s current generation Playbook: The Gamepad has a share button that slaps right in the face.

Known simply as the Xbox Wireless Controller, the device looks almost like the gamepad of the Xbox One except for two elements. One of these is the share button, located between the View and Menu buttons and slightly below. The other is the Directional Pad, which Microsoft calls “extended D-Pad derived from the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller” in a press release. The high-end gamepad was released in November and costs $ 179.99 alone.

The Xbox One was launched like the PlayStation 4 with the ability to capture screenshots and gameplay. Since the console came with Kinect on launch, the main method of using Xbox Game DVR was “Xbox, record that” at the time. However, the PS4’s DualShock 4 controller had a special button – the Share button, which replaced the Select button and gave players instant access to the shooting features. Microsoft later corrected the ability to double-tap the Xbox button and then press a face key to capture a video or picture.

Of course, an Xbox Wireless Controller comes with every Xbox Series X. It will also be compatible with Windows 10 PCs and the Xbox One. The Xbox X series, codenamed Project Scarlett until the The Game Awards on Thursday, is expected to hit the market in 2020.
