You can participate via video .. Putin will not go to the G-20 summit

After the ambiguity that the Kremlin had previously wrapped up the question of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation in the G-20 summit to be held in Indonesia next week, new developments occurred.

Russia has announced that Putin will not go to Bali to attend the summit, but could participate via video technology, RIA Novosti reported.

Lavrov is in his place

This came after the Russian embassy in Jakarta confirmed today Thursday that the Russian president will not travel to the Indonesian island of Bali to join the leaders of the Group of Twenty. “I can confirm that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will lead the Russian delegation during the summit,” said Yulia Tomskaya, head of protocol at the embassy, according to the AFP.

He also added that “Putin’s program is still on in preparation phase and may participate by default “.

The announcement came after months of uncertainty about the Russian president’s participation in the G20 Summit of Heads of State and Government, organized by Indonesia from 15 to 16 November.

I faced a lot of pressure

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose country does not belong to the G20, received an invitation from Indonesia to the summit and can participate by default.

Interestingly, Indonesia has come under severe pressure from the West to exclude Moscow from the summit in response to the military operation launched on February 24 on Ukrainian territory.

But he resisted these pressures, stressing that the host country of the summit must remain neutral, in one moment in where the voltage is in rise between the Kremlin and the West.
